Mongoles and Moughals

The Mongoles, from Mongolia, got organizaed under Gengis Kahn starting about 1190. They they moved south and west. One of lines of descendants from Gengis Kahn began attacking India in 1304. In 1398, Timur invaded India and sacked Delhi, causing the demise of the Delhi Sultinate.

On our trip, we usually heard the invaders referred to as Moughals and they were the ones who brought Islam to India. A time-line of the Mongols
